In memory of Chloe, support of her family and other precious lives

Story

Chloe was born too soon, due to an infection, at 25+2 weeks gestation, weighing just 805g (1lb 12). She lived all of her 82 days in an incubator. Her extreme prematurity brought numerous challenges, and the grit and determination she showed against these was astounding. She really is an inspiration, showing the innate resilience and courage of a human being - no matter how tiny.

I am in the final months of training to run up and over 7000 feet and 45 miles of Welsh Mountains in the Endurancelife Snowdonia Quarter. This is likely to take me at least 10-12 hours but since it's well beyond any distance I've run before the honest truth is I have no idea how long it will take. What I do know is that I won't stop until I finish and that this is nothing compared to the determination shown by tiny Chloe during her short, but heroic fight to live.

Her parents promised her when they said goodbye that they will live their lives with the same grace and determination that she did. I hope that this run will support Chloe's legacy, her determination and help Bliss fund programs to ensure that all the premature babies born in the UK have the very best chance of survival, and quality of life.

You can meet Chloe here: chloe.muchloved.com and see a video of her short life here: http://splice.gopro.com/v?id=VpWaLb

Chloe was never able to breathe without the highest level of ventilated support, which sadly also damaged her tiny lungs. She developed severe chronic lung disease. Devastatingly, she was unable to get off the ventilator to kinder breathing support, and never made it out of intensive care.

The journey of an extremely premature baby is terrifying, long and very tough, with the most precious of moments scattered within. The rollercoaster has no guarantees and no 'typical' path to follow. The charity I am supporting, Bliss, work tirelessly to help and empower parents to take active roles in their baby's care, to educate and support healthcare professionals to use best practices in this 'family centered care'. Bliss also campaign to influence policy, procedures, and they enable life-changing research.

Thankyou so much for anything you can spare in support.

I just wanted to email to thank you all again for your support. The total raised stands at £470 (with another £120 gift aid), thank you for all your kind donations towards this and it's because of you this has raised so much for Bliss and in support of their work. They're really happy and appreciative of the donations. It went well on the day, the sun came out after a few days of rain and I finished well without having to crawl over the finish line which wouldn't have been the best look!

Hi Folks, thanks for the support so far. Very happy to finally be out for a run this morning after two weeks off! A clean bill of health from the physio at the end of last week and a few tricks for it flares up again. Looking forward to the last few weeks of training.
