To our very special little girl, on your second birthday. We spent this one in the majestic mountains of Chamonix, in our new home that we might never have bought if it wasnt for you. We have the most amazing view of Mont-Blanc,the highest mountain in Europe, the backdrop to our wedding which you were so present in, and where we hope to scatter your ashes one day.
Our little dog rainbow (Bow) has been joined by another rainbow baby, your big little brother Alfred Alexander John Calder, or Freddy as he will be known. He shares the same eyes and nose as you and we have already told him lots about you. He was born in the same hospital with a midwife who was best friends with midwife Chloe who delivered you. He even made the short trip to intensive care for a straightforward test - I took him just like I did with you, it seemed fitting somehow.
We are excited for him to grow up knowing you and carrying your memory forward into the next generations. Your memory has also inspired friends to do amazing things - Laura Head will wing walk this week and Tracey Springett plans to run a half marathon in your honour. Your courage and determination continue to inspire us.
I also had the privilege of helping Bliss with the next 3 year strategy this year - it feels amazing to be able to support the future of premature babies in the UK as part of your legacy. They are an amazing charity and one we will always support. Your mummy has continued to support friends with premature babies who shared the unit with you and also supported Harley this year, a premmie from Gibraltar who made it home after a tough experience.
As you can see, you are always in our hearts and in our thoughts. You were the reason we hiked to La Floria today, to find spectacular views of Mont Blanc on your birthday. You inspired me yesterday as I did a tough ascent of Emmoson Dam on my bike. And we continue to find ways to remember you each and every day.
