CPAP Attempts

From Lorna on 13th February 2017 CPAP Attempts

Chloe spent the majority of her life on ventilated breathing support, which is why she spent her whole life in ICU and in an incubator. Sadly, this life saving machine also damaged her tiny lungs. Our daily obsession became how and when we would be able to get Chloe breathing on CPAP, so that she should start to outgrow the damage done and progress towards a 'high dependency' nursery. She had 7 attempts in total. The first at 4 days, resulting in a pneumothorax. The next ones were from 6 weeks of age until her last attempt at almost 12 weeks. Her PB was 50 hours. She tried her absolute hardest, but the extent of her lung disease was too much for her.
