birthday poem....

Created by Lorna 4 years ago
Today brought along another birthday. Our baby girl should have been three. Instead we look at pictures, and marvel at how cruel life can be.

I want to see her run to nursery, to watch her learn and grow. I want to help her with her words, as she tells me about a favourite show.

I want to encourage her to be strong and brave, and take our world face on. I’d love for her to find success where few other girls have gone.

I want her brother to hold her hand, and strive to be just like her. We can only tell him about her traits and hope he emulates what they were.

I want to see her run to Daddy, because she missed him whilst away. Then giggle as he picks her up, telling her he loves her more each day.

I want to put her hair in a ponytail, and add a pretty little clip. I want her to run my nerves ragged doing flip after scary backflip.

I want to make her a birthday cake, with all things she loves the most. But she didn’t get to discover these loves, so we just raise a quiet toast.

She’s not here to sing to, her presence is never quite real enough. Because, no matter how hard we tried, her battle for life was too tough.

So we celebrate her life and memory, always and forever in our heart. We give presents that benefit others and take pride in her story - this is just the start.

Of all the things I want for her (and me), most will never become real. But, her legacy is strong and growing... people and their actions, help us find a deeper love to feel.

Thankyou all for enabling us to keep talking about Chloe. Even as time passes she remains so close to us because of the work we all do to build on her legacy and raise funds and awareness to help neonatal charities (such as Bliss and First Touch) improve experiences and outcomes for more families with sick and premature babies.

It’s not the life we wanted, but it helps us immensely to cope with the heartache of our loss. Her short life and heroic fight wasn’t for nothing... the positives found through the kindness, generosity, thoughtfulness and love of our friends and family are huge. Our little Flipper is an incredible force, and we remain so proud of her and the legacy she is building to help others. πŸ™πŸΌπŸ’•πŸ˜˜πŸ³
